On 15 November 2010, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) and Mémorial de la Shoah co-hosted the International Symposium on Preventing Genocide and Mass Atrocities in Paris, France. Samantha Power, a special assistant to President Barack Obama on human rights issues and authour of the award-winning book A Problem from Hell: America in the Age of Genocide, delivered the keynote address at the symposium. Power spoke on issues related to early warning and prevention, highlighting the significant progress made by the anti-genocide movement in recent years. Excerpts from her speech can be seen here:
