Sentinel CTS to be used for violence monitoring and tracking of emerging conflicts

The Sentinel Conflict Tracking System is a data visualization platform that displays global conflicts being tracked by the Sentinel Project. The platform presents an interactive display model that allows visitors to view and explore the root causes, relationships and operational processes behind conflict.

Research Analysts at the Sentinel Project use Sentinel CTS to input data from reliable sources in order to track situations of concern with the help of a visual time-line that enables staff to track the emergence and development of conflicts.

Sentinel CTS also correlates incidents based on their relation to one another and how they are categorized. In addition, the system allows the public to submit datapoints which are then assessed by data analysts for validity. Sentinel CTS is a deployment of the open-source Ushahidi platform, chosen for its ease of use and flexibility.
